Have you ever noticed how, as we go about our days, we frequently seem to slide from one thing to the next, without giving much thought to what we’re doing? Sometimes we follow a routine, other times we just flow with whatever comes our way. We eat. We sleep. We work. We play. We keep doing things, but at the end of the day, we can’t remember what we accomplished. I know I was busy. I did a lot of things. I feel like I was in a fog. I just wanted to get things done. It makes me feel like I wasted time. I might have wasted a whole day.

Try this approach. Take a minute before each project. Think about it with a clear mind and decide if it’s something you want to do or it’s something you just want to get out of the way. Then decide you are going to spend a certain amount of time accomplishing that task with good intentions and a great attitude. It doesn’t matter if you are about to tackle a project you dread doing or something you love doing, even if you are deciding to just take a nap in the middle of the day. Do it with a clear mind and no second-guessing yourself. Now, expect great results.

Then go on to the next thing you want or need to do and go through the process again. It only takes a second to do. It relieves your mind. You’ve made a decision. You’re going to get it done, you’re going to check it off your list of things to do and at the end of the day you’ll feel good that you did it. Job well done! Our attitude makes all the difference in the world.
